Still here

Clearly I have to practice with Jeffs camera - it takes a long time for the shutter to drop hence the blurr! But at least we have the camera issue resolved.

Looking up the bay, apparently a lot of what you see here was under water when Irene struck

A lot of boats pulled in last night, some left this morning, hardier soles than we!

We met these folks in Solomon Island but they left the day we decided not to.
Actually they are from Scotland, they flew back from there to pick up their boat in Baltimore and head down the ICW.

I'm reading 'Master and Commander' by Patrick O'Brian and this is a passage about weather:

Ditto the weather: but the sun sank toward a livid, purple, tumescent cloud-bank piled deep on the western horizon, and it was clear to every seaman aboard that it was not going to remain ditto much longer. ------ The seamen laid it on; but with all their efforts they could scarcely exaggerate the event, for the south-easterly gale increased from its first warning blasts at the end of the last dog watch to a great roaring current of air by the end of the middle watch, a torrent so laden with warm rain that the men at the wheel had to hold their heads down and cup their mouths sideways to breathe.

Not for us the wilds of weather - we scurry off to the nearest marina when the winds go much above 20 knots!

Heres what the Beaufort Scale has to say about gale force:

8  Gale34-40 knotsTwigs break off trees; progress generally impeded.Moderately high waves of greater length; edges of crests begin to break into spindrift; foam is blown in well-marked streaks along the direction of the wind.

We'll leave it to those fictional characters to deal with weather like that thank you very much!

Tomorrow we head to another Marina at Eastman Creek to have a look at the boat. Calmer winds and warmer temperatures.

These are Royal Terns - I managed to get some video but no stills. This is from Google.
