There is an Arctic blast keeping the temperatures well below
seasonal for this time of year but it’s supposed to warm up by the weekend.
It’s good to be back on Renrod in the competent hands of
Jeff.
The tide is with us and we are making excellent time even
the bridges seem to be working in our favor. There are seven in total most open
on request and with very little traffic on such a cold day that meant little
delay waiting on other boats to join the parade. Hobe Sound was the first
Bascule Bridge just after St. Lucie Inlet. We can always tell when we are
getting close to an inlet because the water turns that fabulous turquoise blue
color from the regular brown color.
There is little evidence here of the harder times the US is
experiencing right now and little sign that Sandy did any damage down here
unlike up in New York!
Wildlife abounds and my neck is developing a crick in it
trying to catch a glimpse of every bird that flies by or is hidden in the
mangroves.
And so, right on schedule we arrived at Old Port Cove marina
at 4:30 tied up and went ashore to meet with Jeff’s dad and to buy some under
ware for me because I forgot to pack any!
Tomorrow we head for Lake Boca Raton! Fort Lauderdale is just
too many bridges away. There are twelve in total en route to Boca Raton and
though the trip distance wise should only take about four hours, negotiating
all those bridges will add a couple more! Hey we are in no rush the weather is
indeed warming up!
